I didn’t expect the fog coming that early..
I can’t see more than a couple hundred meter. At the moment probably less than 200. But even during the day it changed from maybe a mile to around 300 m.
The good thing is the wind is back but there’s almost no windswell. Means the sea is calm with 10-15 kn NW wind.
Yes I tacked!
Or better said.. When I dropped all sails yesterday from port, I pulled them up today on starboard tack.

ZERO is dividing the sea with 6-7 kn. All canvas up.

This changes my whole daily routine.. Or better said effects my complete life on board. After 8 days heeled over to port, knowing exactly where I can leave stuff without falling down or where and when I have to get a hold when cooking or doing whatever.. Even walking from the pilothouse to the head in the bow.. Everything changed.

For example..
Sitting at the table in the PH, the spot where I spend most of my time, facing the starboard side, used to be very comfortable because all gravity from heeling over was taken by the backrest. Means almost no effort for me.. Now I’m sliding down and have to hold against it with my feet and legs.. Which isn’t a big deal, but it means that my underpants I started wearing two days ago …
Do I have to continue?

It will take a little while to get my starboard tack routine I guess..

LK obviously likes his new kingdom. After I heated up the cabin today; I decided to bake a banana/ poppyseed cake; he was pretty agile and walked around and climbed the little aloe vera plant. I caught 2 ants and dropped them into his world..he just has to catch them..

Yes I baked a cake.. And yes it was edible.. Actually very tasty.

In the middle of the pre-baking process, means before putting the whole thing into the oven.. The alarm from Zeus went on. It said there would be a target entering the guard zone. I didn’t had any alarms since I last time adjusted the sensitivity a couple days ago and because of the fog I immediately left my job as ship chef and turned into the captain again.
I went on deck, stopped the alarm and because I couldn’t see or hear anything, checked the radar.

Here it is..
Cargo vessel “Don Quijote” , 227 m long, on its way to the panama canal was passing us 15 nm astern.
All good.. But I have set a guard zone with 25 nm radius.. So why the heck comes the alarm so late?
Maybe the sensitivity needs to be a little higher but then I’ll have all the false alarms again.. ? I trued to call them over the radio but didn’t get any response.. Very unsatisfying!

Sea temperature is down to 15 degree C. This as well developed way faster than estimated..
So No more swimming!
