Ahoi,
I’m getting closer to Oahu. I could sail the whole night and got ZERO to perform upwind like never before.. It kinda seems like anyone should sail his boat without using the rudder at least once.. you’ll learn so much about your boat..
I stood clear of the channel between Kauai and Oahu for the night and sailed a couple miles northeast before I tacked and entered the channel in the morning. We had a very sunny and calm day and the visibility was excellent. There is some heavy traffic between Honolulu on Oahu and Nawiliwili on Kauai.. A couple barges are crossing back and forth a day. And like most of the commercial shipping on Hawaii they get towed. But with this weather I could see them from far away. The didn’t came close to me and I could keep my course. Thanks Captains!

I changed my mind about fixing the genua halyard and climbed the mainmast. It was an easy repair and being up there and seeing ZERO glide over the big blue was worth climbing up there alone. Breathtaking!
And I was back in the game and could use the genua again. Yeah..!
Now I’m almost through the channel and prepare for another night on the ocean. Probably the last one on this trip. But we’re talking about Honolulu area that means sharp lookout! And this doesn’t really work well with getting some sleep..
But there is always something, right..?
Aloha

The high captain..
