2 days ago we did what every good pirate should do once in a while! We got drunk!

Johnny paddled out to our boat and invited us to have a beer on shore. This beer turned out to be a couple more. We ended up in ” Life is a beach” bar and had lots of fun. Because we paddled to shore on our surfboards we didn’t had anything with us. Johnny gave us shoes, a shirt and spend us the drinks. At the bar we met Christian. As the owner of the Fat Daddys Smokehouse right next door he invited us for dinner the next day. He was so excited to meet us and hear some salty stories. He loves to set sails one day. We liked each other immediately. A couple beers and hours later we left for home. Good old pirate style we swayed to the beach and paddled back to ZERO. The night was pitch black and Rebecca and I tried to paddle as silent as possible not to attract one of the nighttime working predators. We heard some stories of huge Tigersharks living right next door.

The Next morning started with typical hungover scenarios: stay as long in bed as you can,  drink lots of water and do nothing else than recovering

Evening finally comes and we dinged over to meet Christian at his Restaurant. Because of restoration work the interior wasn’t very nice BUT the food was and the people who work there were even nicer!! Christian served us a mixed plate with different kind of meats.

All smoked and very tasteful. He jumped up and sat down again a couple times to handle some restaurant needs and asked many questions about our sailing and life. He was still very excited and couldn’t believe we sailed from Mexico to Hawaii with only 3 person aboard.

Rosco, the chef smoker, joined us and told me the meat we had was smoked for over 12 hours!!! It was delicious or how the Hawaiian say “Ono”.

As time went by Peter joined us. He surprised us with so much knowledge in different fields of life we couldn’t believe.
If you guys ever come to Maui you have to check out Fat Daddys Smokehouse. Have a look here: www.Fatdaddysmaui.com

It’s not only about the outstanding food it’s about the people there as well!
